The 2019 Alienware Aurora R9 Is a Sci-Fi-Styled Powerhouse

For devotees. The Aurora R9 has a starting price of $969.99, making it affordable to purchase, but it is also infinitely upgradeable if you have additional funds to spare. Nvidia, Intel, and AMD options are available, making it possible to configure it with the most potent components currently available on the market.

it also contains some cool design elements and functions. The Aurora R9 will go on sale on August 20, but we got to see it up close and personal at a preview event in New York. See the images, information, and reviews below.

Design-wise, the Aurora R9 is anything but ordinary. It offers a more streamlined and futuristic appearance than prior versions and follows the design language of the company’s updated laptop line. Although taste is obviously a matter of opinion, Alienware did a good job of nailing the futuristic, spaceship-like design that would go in with Mass Effect.

It also accomplishes all of this in a small package. Although it may not be immediately apparent from a photo, the Aurora R9 is fairly thin and quite compact. Although it isn’t excessively tall or deep—measuring 18.9 by 8.77 by 17 inches—its thinness is actually its best feature. This not only helps save space, but it also has a sleek, contemporary appearance.

Alluring LED: Alienware’s New Favorite Flair

The front panel’s ringed LED is one of the most striking characteristics. The LEDs have a similar appearance to Alienware’s recently updated laptops. Additionally, the lighting may be changed, so if blue is not your preferred color, you are not forced to use it. Contrary to the Aurora R9, the Dell G5, a less expensive gaming tower, can only emit light of its darker blue tint. Even though it’s a little feature, it distinguishes the more expensive Aurora from its less expensive sibling.

Lunar Light Exclusive Lighting

The Alienware logo LED lighting is located toward the back on the right side of the casing, along with a brand engraving. Compared to the many more flashy attempts I’ve seen over the years, I believe it is a more tasteful method of getting the company name on the casing. The grey “Dark Side of the Moon” color choice does not include the Alienware text illumination; only the white “Lunar Light” color offers it. The starting price previously given is for the Dark Side of the Moon at this time since Lunar Light adds a pricing premium for this additional configurable lighting zone.

Function-First Interior

It is simple to remove the door from the Aurora R9, but what lies behind is somewhat unexpected. The inside is unimpressive, perhaps bordering on unkempt, for a more expensive desktop. It more closely resembles the Dell Inspiron Gaming Desktop, which prioritizes functionality above aesthetics and has a bland interior. Even the less costly Dell G5 comes with a tidy interior and an optional window.

Fair enough, given the size of the chassis, this makes sense. With this system, you are supposed to purchase, a plugin, and start using it while admiring the appearance and functionality. The inside also has some clever features: The power source is housed in the silver box, which swings out to allow access to the parts underneath. Though it has been done previously, it is a clever and simple technique to save space.

Component Choices: A Wide Range of Power

The remaining parts are simple to reach when you swing the arm out. Dell provides a huge selection of configuration choices. You can choose the simple base-level Aurora R9, as I stated, but it scales up to include the very best consumer components.

There are many more possibilities for Nvidia, but AMD is also an option when it comes to graphics. There are five options between the GTX 1650 and the extremely expensive RTX 2080 Ti in the Nvidia GPU lineup. Even dual RTX 2080 GPUs are an option. The two relatively new Radeon GPUs, the RX 5700 and the RX 5700 XT, are your options from AMD. With options ranging from the entry-level Core i3-9100 to the top-tier Core i9-9900K, with Core i5 and i7 possibilities in between, the CPU side is entirely Intel.

You have a wide range of storage options to select from, including a single small or large solid-state drive or HDD, a dual-drive setup with up to a 2TB M.2 SSD, and an equally huge HDD. The RAM increases similarly, from 8GB to 64GB, and even offers some Intel Optane accelerated options.

Don’t Forget the Front Ports

The front panel ports, which are always crucial, are tucked away in the LED ring’s flash. They are all vertically aligned due to the system arrangement. Two USB 3.1 ports, a USB-C port, and headphone jacks are all located here. Although it’s not particularly fancy, having USB-C is useful. There is a large number of desktop ports at the rear that are very standard. There are also four USB 3.1 ports, five USB 2.0 connections, an Ethernet socket, a DisplayPort connection, and audio lines in addition to the additional USB-C port.

A Futuristic Gaming Desktop

Overall, the Aurora R9 is a sleek and up-to-date gaming desktop, at least from the outside. Though your taste will determine whether you want to use it in your living room, I enjoy the look generally. Even yet, it is small and offers a wide variety of component choices, which naturally can result in a wide range of performance and price points. To test the parts, we’ll need to wait till the review units are ready, so keep checking back.

The Aurora R9 is, at least from the outside, a stylish and extremely contemporary gaming desktop. Although I generally enjoy the style, your taste will determine whether you want to use it in your living room. However, while being thin, it offers a large variety of component choices, which naturally can result in a wide range of performance and price points.
