The online messaging platform is releasing a themed app icon using which users will be able to adapt the icon of the app to the current wallpaper or theme. Informing about the same, WABetaInfo tweeted, “WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.18.16: what’s new? WhatsApp is releasing a themed app icon to all beta testers on Android 13 today!” It further added in a report, “WhatsApp is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.22.18.16.”

It can be noted that the Android 13 offers a lot of features to developers. Explaining what is a themed app icon, WABetaInhfo said, “thanks to this feature, Android adapts the icon of the app to the current wallpaper or theme. WhatsApp icon to change in Android 13

By sharing a screenshot, it further informed that the icon looks different when the themed icon option is enabled within system settings on Android 13. In this case, the WhatsApp icon on Android 13 is finally tinted to completely inherit the coloring of the wallpaper or the chosen theme, the report said.

WhatsApp has also rolled out another new feature- the ability to view status updates on the Windows beta app, WABetaInfo informed via another report. As per the information provided, there is a button that redirects to the list of all status updates and it is available within the chat list header. It can be noted that this is a beta version and hence some features related to status updates are still not available.

“If you have updated the app to the latest 2.2232.6.70 beta build and the status update button doesn’t show up, please kill and reopen the app: this action should force the status shortcut to appear. If it still doesn’t show up, please wait at least 24 hours,” the report added. The ability to view status updates is available to all beta users that install the latest WhatsApp for Windows beta build from the Microsoft Store.
